Christmas Decorating Ideas For Ceiling
It's all about that ceiling.
'Bout that ceiling.
'Bout that ceiling.
No kidding. 🙂
Oh wait….or maybe it's all about this ceiling.
Or this one?
All of these ceilings are brought to you from of one of the most amazing show houses I have ever seen. Yesterday I was lucky enough to be part of the incredible Kings Chapel Holiday Tour of Homes. It was to benefit the Make-a-Wish foundation and I designed a tree in this house for a Make-a-Wish child.
It was an inspiring day.
37 bloggers came to tour the homes and talk and eat and take pictures and drink coffee.
Except I spent all my time looking up at the ceilings.
The home was built by Gregg and Rains Building Group and decorated by two incredible designers named Kara and Lauren Blalock from Refresh Home.
They designed every square inch of this home and created diy projects that will make you run for the nearest power tool and rooms that will make you want to grab a cup of coffee and a pair of fuzzy socks and move in.
And the best part?
They are so nice.
And funny.
And generally all-around-wish-you-lived-next-door to them.
And we laughed all afternoon and I took pictures and mentally re-decorated every ceiling in my house.
And now….drum roll please…..
….here's the house tour and 10 simple holiday decorating ideas.
1. Wrap the back of a chair with upholstery webbing.
You know those upholstered chairs that you always wanted to decorate…but couldn't?
Here's the answer.
Upholstery webbing and a wreath.
You're welcome.
2. Add fur to the back of a bar stool.
These were plain bar stools.
Lauren and Kara had them upholstered on the back with faux fur.
Just watch out for Cheerios and milk. 🙂
3. Add a rag rug as a bench pillow
This was the room my tree was in (more on the tree later).
They made this rug from left-over fabric from every room.
Then the rug was folded and added to the top of a bench.
4. Add sticks to the tree
Chunky branches painted white decorate a tree with style.
Okay….that amazing container doesn't hurt either.
Or the incredible brick wall and staircase.
5. Create a centerpiece with trees
Stack trees of different heights and add burlap and greenery.
This is the room with the harlequin ceiling.
Oh…and they made that light fixture.
I know…right?
6. Add magnolias leaves to your wreath
Start with a simple store-bought wreath.
Then wire in fresh magnolia leaves.
Then hang it on a grid over an amazing bench with a glitter pillow.
I mean…..seriously….nothing says Christmas like magnolias and glitter pillows.
7. Add a little joy to a laundry room
Spell out JOY in giant letters and add a few greens for winter decorating in the laundry room.
Then add glass containers with clothespins and detergent.
And did you see the floor?
8. Make a simple centerpiece with greens and glitter sticks
This is one of the outside porches.
Start with a simple evergreen base and add glittered sticks in the center.
Easy and simple and elegant.
Yes, please.
And don't stop there.
Add a few logs in a basket next to your barn wood entertainment center.
Note to self….I need one of those.
9. Add a burlap joy pillow to the bed
Okay….first add paneling, paint the walls a beautiful navy.
Add plaid accents to the bookcases.
Find a beautiful old iron bed….
….and then add the joy pillow.
10. Paint trees on tobacco sticks
You know where it all started….the ceiling covered with tobacco sticks?
Just paint a winter scene on the tobacco sticks you have left over for this camping inspired room.
And while you're at it?
Make a tent from sticks, too.
Lauren and Kara….you are rock stars.
No one else could have designed a house like this and be so full of joy that you made my heart smile for an entire afternoon.
And now that we are BFF's…..
….can you please come decorate my ceiling? 🙂
PS Here's a few snaps of my circus themed tree in the house.
The tree was donated by the incredible Balsam Hill and I decorated it with strands of monkeys and carnival signs and tickets and tiny circus hats and color and lots of love.
And if you live in the Nashville area and you want to stop by the tour of homes and see this incredible home and the tree and three other homes as well…..you can purchase tickets here.
The tour of homes is open starting tomorrow from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm daily.
